•As pregnancy progresses, increasing fetal demands for glucose increases the risk of symptomatic hypoglycemia. Tight glucose monitoring is required.
•Approximately 3-10% of pregnancies are affected by abnormal glucose regulation.
•Gestational diabetes usually occurs midpoint of pregnancy when insulin resistance becomes noticeable.
